After more than 9 years in business, we’ve received just about every cake smash theme request you can imagine, which means we have a lot of backdrops. More than 80, to be exact. And that’s in addition to the countless custom sets we’ve created with specialty props and balloon garlands.

Do I have to pick just one theme?
Not at all! We always include multiple set ups to get a good variety of images.
Because each cake smash session includes a custom-designed cake, we’ll need to decide which theme you’d like the cake to coordinate with. But beyond that, we can absolutely incorporate multiple backdrops or sets into your session.
Most of our cake smash sessions start with family portraits, typically on a solid or lightly textured backdrop for a timeless look. From there, we move into individual portraits of your little one. We’re usually able to photograph at least 2–3 different sets (sometimes even more!) for baby’s solo photos, including the main cake smash setup.
Many families also choose to add a “splash” set, which is a playful bubble bath moment that not only makes for adorable photos but also helps clean baby up after all the cake fun. Some families prefer the splash set to match their cake smash theme, while others love switching things up for a little variety.
The session is designed to feel flexible, fun, and completely tailored to you!
Can we do an outdoor cake smash session?
Yes! While outdoor cake smashes aren’t requested as often, we’ve photographed quite a few.
When planning an outdoor session, we do have to be mindful of location and weather. Here in Florida, the heat and frequent rain can make outdoor sessions uncomfortable for a large part of the year. Winter and spring, however, tend to offer the most pleasant temperatures and are typically ideal for outdoor cake smashes.
If your little one’s birthday falls between May and October, we usually recommend a studio session to keep everyone comfortable (especially baby!) and avoid weather-related rescheduling. The studio also gives us full control over lighting and setup, so your session runs smoothly no matter what’s happening outside.
